Key partnerships

One of ElectriCITY’s goals is to share our experiences globally and it is made possible through our partnerships.

ElectriCITY Days
with
Matchmaking

Twice a year, ElectriCITY hosts events focused on current climate-smart themes, diving deep into relevant sustainability issues. These events are designed to foster collaboration and accelerate the transition to climate-neutral cities. In addition to engaging presentations, there are opportunities for on-site networking throughout the days.

The ElectriCITY Days are recorded, allowing those who could not attend in person to still participate.

A sustainable growth area

The Stockholm Green Innovation District is Stockholm’s new growth area for innovation and sustainability, spanning from Årsta to Sickla, with the Tvärbanan light rail as its connecting link. It is being developed collaboratively by the City of Stockholm, Nacka Municipality, businesses both large and small, civil society, and research organizations such as KTH, IVL, and RISE.

The goal is to renew and build sustainable neighborhoods with innovative, climate-smart solutions. The Stockholm Green Innovation District hosts platforms for innovation, export, investment, digitalization, urban development, and communication, all aimed at promoting innovations locally and globally and marketing the area both nationally and internationally.

Swedish Cities in collaboration

ElectriCITY is a partner in Viable Cities, a strategic innovation program supported by the Swedish Energy Agency, Vinnova, and Formas. The program runs from 2017 to 2030, with KTH serving as the host organization and coordinator for Viable Cities.

Viable Cities brings together various stakeholders, including cities, municipalities, businesses, academia, civil society, and government agencies, to collaboratively work towards climate neutrality and improved quality of life in urban areas. The initiative “Climate-Neutral Cities 2030” is one of Europe’s largest efforts in sustainable urban development, currently involving 48 Swedish cities and several national authorities.

Through various projects and collaborations, new solutions are being tested and developed in areas such as energy, mobility, construction, and digitalization. Viable Cities emphasizes the importance of innovation, collaboration, and citizen engagement in achieving the goal of climate-friendly and attractive cities.

Research partners

All ElectriCITY Innovation’s projects are conducted in close collaboration with universities, research institutes, businesses, and residents in Hammarby Sjöstad. Hammarby Sjöstad has become a unique testing ground that attracts researchers from Swedish universities as well as leading academic institutions worldwide. The ambition is for Hammarby Sjöstad to serve as a first-choice Swedish hub in future EU projects focused on sustainable urban development.

We are keen to participate in research and innovation projects. A fundamental aspect of our engagement is that the project should be conducted locally, while also having a national and international orientation, meaning that the testing ground should be replicable for other districts and cities around the world. We have extensive experience collaborating with universities and research institutions, both in Sweden and within the EU.
