District for innovation and sustainability
Stockholm’s new growth area for innovation and sustainability is being developed in collaboration between the City of Stockholm, Nacka Municipality, large and small companies, civil society, and research organizations such as KTH, IVL, and RISE.
The initiative is about daring to test new ideas and finding innovative solutions for climate-neutral and energy-efficient areas. ElectriCITY’s members contribute their expertise and experience with the shared goal of creating a testbed for green transformation that can inspire both Sweden and the world.
The project, initiated by ElectriCITY Innovation, spans seven districts and includes the areas: GrowSmarter in Valla TorgÅrsta, Nya Slakthusområdet (The Meatpacking District), Sthlm New at Gullmarsplan, Hammarby Sjöstad 2.0, Wood City in Sickla, Kvarnholmen (The Mill Island) and Central Nacka. Through seminars, workshops, and collaboration, a platform for innovation and export is being created, where green solutions can be tested, developed, and disseminated.
Through leadership in sustainable urban development, Stockholm and Nacka aim to attract investors, tenants, and the public to the area’s activities. Stockholm Green Innovation District also continuously organizes seminars and workshops with the overarching goal of learning from one another and collaborating to contribute to an even more vibrant and inspiring area, initiating ideas, promoting innovation, and fostering business.
The initiator of the Stockholm Green Innovation District was Allan Larsson. Since January 2023, the chairman is Carl Piva, CEO of the Internet Foundation. ElectriCITY’s members automatically become members of the Stockholm Green Innovation District.
